The Turkish referendum that just changed the parliamentary system to a presidential one has gotten bad press in the West – both in the MSM and in much of the alternative media. It has been presented as a power grab by neo-Ottoman "Sultan Erdogan." But is there another side to this story?
In this interview, Dr. Sami al-Arian, a Palestinian-American who resides in Turkey, explains why Turkey may be better off with a presidential system. (The parliamentary one was extremely unstable, allowing the military-based deep state to repeatedly stage coups and coup attempts, most recently last summer.) Dr. al-Arian suggests that the Western media's hostility to the referendum, and to Erdogan, may stem from Western policymakers' fear of a strong, independent Turkey.
